On September 3oth, this couple got married:

There was a big party with a glorious cake:
Now what does this have to do with running a marathon? Not a thing. Well, almost nothing. You see, I'm raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. On every table at the reception was this card:
On November 5th, I will run in the New York City Marathon in Honor of my Mom & Dad, and in Memory of Cara Carpenter, a little girl I've never met, but whose spirit makes the world a brighter place.
