Workout Summary for August 3, 2006

3 Miles- One loop of Prospect Park

When I came off the subway it was unusually dark and very windy. It's been very hot, but with the wind blowing, I figured I'd be all right for a quick loop of Prospect Park.

You know how things go, you get in, you sit down and then the next thing you it's an hour or so later and those thoughts of running around the park seemed more like a fantasy.

I peeled myself off the couch, donned my new running shorts. Aurora was ready to go and we were out the door and in to the rain! Rain? Now? I'm about to go running, there can't be no rain. But raining it was.

We walked up to the YMCA discussing our options: we could brave the rain (it wasn't raining that hard and it had actually gotten a bit cooler) or we could work out in the YMCA. I really couldn't stand the thought of running on the treadmill for any length of time. We decided the rain is not going to stop us.

With our bags dropped at the YMCA we headed up to the park in the rain. At the park we started our slow trot. We had been running about five minutes and then the rain stopped. And the humidity grew worse. It was like running through a wet wool blanket.

The humidity definitely slowed us down, but it didn't stop us. We stretched for a good long time back at the YMCA, then called it a night.
